E-26 Base Three Screw Terminal Lamp Sockets are used when controlling Multiple Bulbs. Some lamps have both, a top and bottom light. A 3 Terminal Socket allows both of these lights to be on at the same time or work independently. This socket is the main one at the top of the lamp and, when wired correctly, allows you to control the power to the keyless socket (the one without a turn knob) in the bottom of the lamp as well. Commonly used in Lamps with an Accessory Night Light.
